Living within walking distance to public transit is a priority for many Chicagoans, whether it’s to make commuting easier or because they can’t afford to get around the city any other way. City officials have made residential development near Chicago Transit Authority and Metra lines a priority in recent years, amending zoning laws and providing grant funding to entice developers to build more units within walking distance of trains and buses.
