Common Edge
The conflict afflicting architecture today mirrors the struggle I encountered long ago. Now, as then, there is a persistent dissatisfaction with the present, which clashes with an ever-present fear of the future. I have it from on high that longings for the past are reactionary retreats into the familiar, driven by insecurity. That weakness may serve politicians, but not architects.
