British big cities outside London face the greatest ‘density crisis’ – if British big cities were built at the density of their French or Japanese equivalents, there would be over 1 million – 70 per cent – more homes within 5 km of their city centres, and If London were as dense those two cities, it would have at least half a million – about 25 per cent – more homes within Zones 1-3.
