Park City-Area Bus Drivers May Lose Jobs After Feds Change CDL Rules

The Trump administration made commercial driver’s licenses off-limits for certain people without permanent residency in the United States in September, affecting local High Valley Transit and Park City Transit bus drivers, some of whom must now change their immigration status or seek other employment. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration estimates 194,000 non-domiciled CDL holders nationwide, 97%, will need to exit the market as a result of the emergency rule change, which bypassed the public comment period and was justified by citing fatal accidents involving non-domiciled CDL holders.
