A study documents at least $260 million in funding by 15 major foundations since 2018 to nonprofits across California that have actively opposed pro-housing legislation in recent years. Mostly, though, foundations are on the wrong side of the housing fight in California, directing hundreds of millions of dollars to advocacy groups that often work to frustrate pro-housing legislative pushes.
