Mondays Replay: Integrating High Speed Rail Stations with Communities in France

This week on our Mondays show we’re going back and combining episodes 129 and 130 of Talking Headways about seeing high speed rail station areas as projects of national significance.

More below the fold…

I mentioned last Mondays show that I was going to bring back some older episodes of Talking Headways with folks that might not have heard them originally. This episode combines two episodes recorded together but split into two in 2017 on the topic of integrating high speed rail stations with communities. I feel like there’s a lot to learn about how the French operate in this manner and these episodes are ones I continue to think back on when we talk about doing large transit projects in the United States as well as in states like California.

Host Eric Eidlin is joined by Stephan de Fay, executive director of Bordeaux Euratlantique, the public agency overseeing the redevelopment of Bordeaux’s main train station to accommodate several new high speed rail lines by 2020, and Etienne Tricaud, president and CEO of AREP, the French railway’s architecture office.
