Labor misallocation is a persistent structural problem in China’s urban labor markets, constraining productivity and regional development. This study examines whether and how high-speed rail (HSR) development affects labor misallocation using panel data from 284 Chinese cities (2003–2019) and applying difference-in-differences (DID) and spatial DID (SDID) models.
