Nearly all leading candidates in California’s 2026 governor’s race have embraced the YIMBY pro-development stance on housing, marking a major shift from 2018 when few gubernatorial hopefuls supported state-imposed zoning reforms. California YIMBY declined to endorse a specific candidate, saying the top four Democrats all have strong housing plans.
