The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals refused to preliminarily block SB 264, a Florida law that bans many Chinese immigrants and citizens of six other countries from purchasing homes in the state, but clarified the restrictions do not apply to certain Chinese immigrants who reside in Florida and intend to remain there indefinitely. Advocates argue that SB 264 is discriminatory and mirrors historic ‘alien land laws’ targeting Asian immigrants.
