Some senior living communities are caring for people with dementia alongside other residents, not segregated behind locked doors. It’s a small but growing movement, a much more dignified way of caring for people, though off-putting to some who worry about safety, and we cannot build enough bricks and mortar separate memory care communities to meet the needs of those living with dementia, so we have to be more expansive in our thinking.
