Dunbar, West Virginia: Least Effective Pedestrianized Downtown Ever?

Precious few pedestrian zones survive, but Dunbar appears to be one of them. And sadly, for a suburb like Dunbar—pre-war, gridded streets, largely walkable—that apathy persists into 2025, manifest by the fact that the pedestrian zone lingers, with no prevailing effort to aestheticize the area into a shopping and entertainment district, or a family-friendly park-like plaza space.
